Looking at a face that is looking back at you chronicles four classically trained musicians as they each perform from a composer they have a deep musical relationship with. Shot on the grounds of Sailors' Snug Harbor in Staten Island, NY, the film unveils the relationship between performers and composers amongst neoclassical buildings and bucolic grounds. Intercut with handmade, sculpted porcelain busts of composers from Stravinsky to Beethoven, the four performances become a meditation on the affinity and emotional connection performers have with the men who created the music they play.
